(VOVworld) – A solemn requiem for fallen soldiers in the Dien Bien Phu campaign was held on Thursday by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in collaboration with the Dien Bien provincial People’s Committee.

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, and central agencies were present at the event to offer incense to the heroes. The requiem is part of activities to mark the 60^th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (1954-2014). The event shows the Vietnamese people’s gratitude to the soldiers, who laid down their lives for national liberation and defence.
