VOV, Jiji Press strengthen cooperation

(VOVworld) –Voice of Vietnam Radio and Japan’s Jiji Press have signed a cooperation agreement on the mutual exchange of news and stories, a legal framework for effective long-term cooperation.

The deal was reached on Thursday following a reception hosted by VOV General Director Nguyen Dang Tien for Sadafumi Tani, Jiji director for office and communications. The Jiji Press was founded on November 1st, 1945. It now is operating a wide network covering 78 bureaus inside Japan and 28 outside. With the motto “bringing world news to Japan and news about Japan to the world”, Jiji has become a prestigious media agency in Japan and around the world for its reliable, objective news. It has an independent management, made possible by Jiji being 100% employee-owned. Tien said at the reception: "We admire Japan and the Jiji Press’s operation. Japan is one of Vietnam’s biggest ODA providers and its government pays great attention to Vietnam. It was high time for VOV and Jiji to cooperate on news and story exchanges that benefit both sides. I’m grateful for your interest in and cooperation with VOV".

Tani expressed his belief that cooperation with VOV would lead to more diversity of stories in the Jiji Press. He hoped for a more fruitful links between VOV and Jiji to contribute to closer relations between Japan and Vietnam. The deal is also significant because it comes on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Vietnamese-Japanese diplomatic relations.
