Cherry blossom festival boosts Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange

(VOVworld)-Japanese cherry blossoms have been displayed in many localities across Vietnam as part of efforts to increase mutual understanding and deepen the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

Cherry blossom, also known as sakura, is the national flower of Japan. The cherry blossom festival, one of the oldest cultural events in Japan, has been extended to many countries as a symbol of peace. First organized in 2007 in Hanoi to mark the 15th anniversary of the Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange Association, the cherry blossom festival has become an annual event in Vietnam. This year, the festival was held in Hanoi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh province.

Apart from cherry blossoms, visitors were treated to cultural exchanges, martial art performances and tea ceremony.
“The festival symbolizes friendship between countries. It brings us closer”, said Nguyen Thi Thai, a resident of Kien An district in Hai Phong city.
