(VOVworld) – Nha Trang city in Khanh Hoa province will host the 1st Senior Officials Meeting (SOM1) and related meetings of Vietnam’s APEC Year 2017. SOM1 will consist of 80 meetings from February 18 to March 3 involving some 2,500 delegates.
The Khanh Hoa provincial authorities have finalized preparations for SOM1. Five hotels will host meetings and the provincial Meeting Center will become a press center. About 180 volunteers have been trained for the event.
Khanh Hoa has prepared video clips, booklets, and photo exhibits to introduce the province’s socio-economic advantages and scenic spots. Delegates will be taken to famous tourist sites like Po Nagar Tower, Hon Chong, the Museum of Doctor Alexandre Yersin, and the Khanh Hoa Aloe Wood center. The organizing board will give the guests provincial specialties like aloe wood products, coffee, and swallow’s nest products.
Nguyen Van Thanh, Secretary General of the Nha Trang Tourism Association, said: “The Association has asked its members to prepare services, security, safety, environmental hygiene, and fire prevention. Everything must be at its best.”
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Huynh Vinh Ai said: “APEC Year 2017 is an opportunity for Vietnam to promote its tourism to the world. All tourist sites will be free to APEC delegates. Localities will also organize activities to introduce their attractions.”
The Public Security sector has made detailed plans to ensure security for APEC 2017. Police will be on-duty around the clock at hotels and meeting places. Vietnam and Khanh Hoa province are now ready for SOM1, the first event of APEC Year 2017 in Vietnam.
