(VOVworld)- Rogue One: A Star Wars Story landed an impressive 155 million USD opening in North America this weekend, topping the box office in this region.

In three days the blockbuster film earned its producer, Lucasfilm, 155 million USD in the US and Canada and 290 million USD globally. According to Exhibitor Relations, the film premiered in more than 4,700 theaters in North America. The audience demographics were 66% male and 39% under 25. Lucasfilm expects to make even more money when the film opens in China and South Korea next week. Forbes says Rogue One is the 3^rd biggest opening this year. The film has received kudos from both audiences and critics. On the CinemaScore website, 84% of film critics recommended this film. On the ComScore, Paul Dergarabedienma, a media analyst, said the movie is beyond his expectations. Based on the success of the two previous films, “the next film in the Star Wars saga has the potential to claim the title as the biggest movie of all time," he said.

Rogue One inspires the audience by applying a storytelling method that provides a way in for the uninitiated.

In 1977, the first “Star Wars” movie depicted a rebel alliance led by Princess Leia that attempts to destroy the Galactic Empire’s space station, the Death Star, by using stolen plans. “Rogue One” is the story of how they got those plans. Directed by Gareth Edwards, "Rogue One" stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna and Forrest Whitaker. The film cost $200 million to produce, not including marketing costs.
