(VOVworld) – The conquest of Vietnam’s highest mountain- Fansipan- is an aspiration of many young people and adventurers in Vietnam. Today, our reporter Lan Anh follows a group of young adventurers trying to conquer Mount Fansipan, which stands 3,143 meters high.

Slippery cliffs, steep slopes, and muddy roads- nothing can deter Duong Thi Viet Yen and her two friends. On the contrary, these challenges really excite them because conquering Mount Fansipan is their dream. Dieu Linh is the youngest member of the group: “We're young and dying to conquer everything. It's true that we took a big risk by deciding to climb Fansipan. None of us has any climbing experience. Moreover, the terrain is difficult”.

Yen’s group stars from the entrance to Hoang Lien Son National Park, 1,800 meters above sea level. In two days and one night, they have to cover 16 km on a trail reserved for amateur climbers and tourists. The first few kilometers are relatively easy, with gentle slopes and small meandering streams. The three young climbers walked comfortably on a shaded trail. The higher they climb, the more spectacular the landscape becomes, with old trees, a thick carpet of dead leaves, birdsongs, and murmuring streams. But the higher they climb,  the colder it becomes. Viet Yen, the eldest of the group, finds it more and more difficult to move forward and needs help from her two friends and other climbers. Yen says: “Physical fitness is important, but for me, determination is more important. I saw a climber. She is skinnier and older than me but determined to go on. I thought I must to reach the top of Fansipan to conquer myself. Sometimes I want to give up, but the determination of other climbers has motivated me”.

After a difficult climb, the climbers are rewarded with the magnificent wild nature of Hoang Lien mountain and centuries-old trees. The landscapes constantly change. Dieu Linh says she was amazed to find herself in the middle of a vast sea of clouds:“Adventurers often talk about hunting clouds. Here it is more than that. Sometimes you seem to be pursued by a sea of clouds. I want to shout out loudly, "My God, I finally saw a sea of clouds. I want to fly in the clouds”.

Tran Van Nghia, the other member of the group, says that what he has experienced is much different from what he imagined: "Climbing is really an incredible experience. In addition to personal efforts, teamwork and mutual encouragement  are very helpful. The landscape changes considerably from one side of the mountain to the other side. The clouds are at our feet. At 2,800 meters, we are exhausted. When night falls, it is very cold”.

The group’s first stop is 2,800 meters above sea level. At night the temperature drops below 5 degrees. But the cold only serves to excite the climbers, who now feel they are closer to their goal. They only have 300 meters more to climb. But the last stretch is more difficult than the previous one. It is even colder and the air is thinner. The slope is steeper and it is more slippery at the edges of the streams. Nevertheless, the three young people managed to reach their destination. Yen says:"What a joy to greet the first rays of sun on Mount Fansipan. Never in my life will I be able to forget  this  magic moment! Seen from above, the town of Sapa is tiny. I’m proud to have overcome so many obstacles”.

On the top of Mount Fansipan, between heaven and earth, men feel tiny but proud to have conquered the highest peak of Vietnam. Tiredness drops away. All the climbers are indescribably happy to finally touch the marker indicating the altitude of 3143 meters.
