(VOVworld) - On Thursday night, the Voice of Vietnam will host a ceremony to remember the first time President Ho Chi Minh read a poem on VOV to wish Happy New Yearto Vietnamese people and foreigners at home and abroad on New Year’s Eve in 1947. The ceremony, accompanied by an art program, will take place at the National Radio Broadcasting Center at 58 Quan Su, Hanoi. The event will be broadcast live onVOV1, VOV2, VOV3, VOVTV, VTC1, the National Assembly TV Channel, and VOV.VN.

VOV was evacuated 14 times during Vietnam’s 2 resistance wars against the French and the Americans. The first evacuation site for VOV staff was Tram pagoda in PhungChau commune, Chuong My district, where President Ho Chi Minh, for the first time, read a poem on VOV to wish the world a Happy New Year on New Year’s Eve in 1947.

His poem said:

“The red flag with a yellow star flew in the wind

The fanfare for resistance resounded nationwide

The entire nation has joined the fight, and the fight has been comprehensive

Our spirit is ready, our minds unanimous

Forward, soldiers! Forward, people!

Our strength is ample, our forces many

The long-term fight is sure to achieve victory

Unity and independence are sure to be achieved.”

According to Truong Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Hanoi authorities consider Tram pagoda an important historical relic site. From the VOV station there, President Ho Chi Minh made an appeal for a national resistance war against French colonialism in the early morning of December 20, 1946. His call included a legendary saying: “We are better off sacrificing everything than losing our country and becoming slaves.Tien adds that this important resistance memorial site is also a marker of VOV’s establishment and development.
