(VOVworld) – In response to the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union’s campaign to engage young people in the national program of building new rural areas, youth organizations of Bac Ninh province have launched movements to promote the vanguard role of young people in improving the nation's rural areas.

Young people in Bac Ninh province get involved in building rural road

The Bac Ninh provincial Youth Union has identified specific goals for its local branches in each specific period. These include building and upgrading roads, irrigation works, schools, and cultural houses, and developing economic cooperative models for young people. Other targets involve vocational training and job recommendation for rural youth. Local youth has played an active role in building a cultural lifestyle, ensuring social security, and protecting the environment. Vice Secretary of Bac Ninh’s Youth Union Do Dinh Huu: “We acknowledge young people’s leading role in communicating with people to understand the aim of building new rural areas. The program is not the government’s investment on infrastructure construction but the responsibility of the people. Among 19 new rural criteria, young people will be in charge of 1 or 2 criteria.”

Youth organizations in Bac Ninh have launched “Voluntary Saturday” and “Green Sunday” to plant 82,000 trees and helped build 50 km of electric lines. During last summer’s voluntary program, Bac Ninh young people dredged Minh Tan and Hien Luong irrigation canals in Que Vo district, supported 9,000 students to attend university entrance examinations, and presented gifts worth 50,000 USD to social beneficiaries. Secretary of Khac Niem commune’s Youth Union, Duong Ngoc Duyen, says: “Members of the Youth Union are enthusiastic, and eager to get involved in new rural development activities. They are fully aware of their duty to the homeland.”

Young people’s contributions have created positive changes in Bac Ninh province. They have helped communes quickly obtain their new rural development targets. Duong Duc Dung in Doai hamlet, Bac Ninh city, says: “Young people have many practical activities to support the authority in building new rural areas. The highlighted activities are planting trees and connecting electric lines to remote hamlets.”

Youth movements have enhanced people’s confidence in a young generation that is dynamic, creative, and devoted to society.
