Hoa Vang was remarkably improved thanks to the national new rural development program.

By the end of last year, its poverty rate had fallen to just 2.3%. All of its communes have met all criteria for quality of education, healthcare, and culture and all rural residents are now covered by health insurance.

Truong Tan Manh, Deputy Chairman of Hoa Lien commune’s People’s Committee, said: “Urbanization has made the local environment dusty, so we prioritized the program’s criterion on the environment.”

Dang Phu Hanh, Deputy Chairman of Hoa Vang district’s People’s Committee, said the local authorities will seek every way possible to sustain the fulfilled criteria.

“We’ve proposed that municipal authorities work with factories to minimize noise and environmental pollution. We need to take drastic action to moderate companies which excavate soil and stones for city construction,” according to Hanh.

Considering economic development a spearhead target, Hoa Vang has focused on restructuring, industrializing, and modernising agricultural and rural areas and prioritizing high-tech, safe, and clean agricultural products of high economic value.

Hoa Vang has stepped up its application of technology to production and attaches great importance to linking, production, and consumption and promoting chain-based development to raise annual per capita income to 1,700 USD by 2020.
