The Tan Trao communal authorities have succeeded in mobilizing local contributions to the national new rural development program. People in Tan Trao have donated approximately 50,000 USD to pave the roads connecting their hamlets. The national rural development program has received an enthusiastic response from the local community, says local resident Hoang Van Hung: "It was very difficult for us to travel on unpaved roads. They were rough and muddy, especially on rainy days. Thanks to government support and donations from the local community, it’s much easier for us to travel now."

With capital provided by the national new rural development program, Tan Trao commune has implemented 9 models of pig raising and 30 models of chicken raising, improved local tea cultivation and upgraded cultural houses in the hamlets of Tien Phong, Vinh Tan, and Lung Bung. This has significantly improved local living conditions. Tan Trao has met 14 of the program’s 19 criteria. Truong Van Van, Tan Trao commune’s Deputy Party Secretary, said: "Implementing the national rural development program has really changed our working methods. We’ve learned that in order to make the program work, we have to get the people involved in every step of it." 

To complete all 19 criteria of the program by next year, Tan Trao is sparing no effort on the remaining tasks – building rural markets and residential houses, generating stable jobs for rural laborers, and protecting the environment. Chairman of Tan Trao’s People’s Committee Nguyen Van Hoa said the commune is focusing on raising people’s incomes: "We’ll enhance our communication activities to encourage the local people to take part in agricultural production development to improve their living conditions and their awareness of environmental protection. Local households have been advised to keep their houses and surroundings in good repair. We’ve also organized training classes on agriculture and craft production for rural laborers to help them find jobs and increase their incomes."
