(VOVworld) – 1 million workers in the public sector in the UK will take part in a nationwide strike to protest to pay freeze and austerity rules after Prime Minister David Cameron proposed an amendment restricting strikes.

Teachers, civil servants, firefighters, and public transportation workers will march in London to oppose the policies of the coalition government headed by the Conservative Party. Cameron condemned the plan and urged people to go to work and not join the strike.

The government implemented a pay freeze for public sector workers in 2010 and has restricted the annual wage rise to 1% since 2012. Trade unions say the pay is not enough for people to cover rising living cost.
