100 killed by Taliban in Pakistan

(VOVworld) – Taliban gunmen killed approximately 100 people and took hostage a number of students at a military-controlled school in Peshawa, Pakistan on Tuesday.

Pakistan’s military officials announced that 6 Taliban gunmen broke into the school, where approximately 500 teachers and students were present at the time of the attack. Gunfire between government forces and the gunmen continued 3 hours. Pakistani security forces are trying to regain control of the building and helicopters and ambulances are hurryingly carrying wounded students to hospital. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called the attack a national tragedy and instructed relevant agencies to quickly rescue the hostages.
