10th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association

(VOVworld) – The 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association opened in Hanoi on Sunday in the presence of Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong. Mr. Trong praised the contributions of the media and the association in recent years and asked the media to continue to serve as a bridge between the Party and the state with the people. Regarding the association’s activities in the coming years, he said:  “The association and its affiliates should continue to promote the movement to follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example among journalists. It should also strengthen cooperation with functional agencies and media organizations to improve its role and performance.”

The congress elected a new executive committee and journalist Thuan Huu was re-elected president for the next 5 years. Vietnam now has 845 media agencies, most of which are multimedia.
