2014 summer camp for overseas Vietnamese

(VOVworld) – 170 young overseas Vietnamese are returning to the homeland to join a summer camp which will take them to different provinces to join nationwide activities to raise their awareness of the country’s sea and islands. Speaking at a Thursday press briefing in Hanoi, Dang The Hung, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA), said the annual event aims to help young overseas Vietnamese people fully and deeply understand nation’s sovereignty over the sea and islands, its patriotic traditions, culture and solidarity, raising their pride in and attachment to the homeland.

During the camp, they will visit President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Van Mieu – Vietnam’s first Temple of Literature in Hanoi, and historical and cultural relics in Quang Ninh, Hue, Da Nang, and Da Lat, as well as meeting with youth in Quang Ninh and Quang Ngai provinces.

Entitled “My homeland’s sea and islands”, the event will kick off next Tuesday and last until the end of this month.
