2017 Tran Temple Festival opens in Thai Binh

(VOVworld)- The Tran Temple Festival, one of the biggest annual spring festivals in Vietnam, opened at the national historical complex of the Tran Kings’ shrines and tombs in Thai Binh province, on Thursday, the 13th day of the first lunar month.

Hoang Trung Hai, Secretary of Hanoi’s Party Committee, beat the drum to open the six-day festival which honors the Tran Dynasty which ruled Vietnam from 1225 to 1400 and promotes Vietnamese cultural tradition and patriotism.

The opening ceremony was followed by cultural and arts activities including drum performances, dragon and lion dancing.

The Tran Temple Festival was recognised as a national intangible heritage in 2014.
