(VOVworld) – The 2nd National Amateur Singing Festival opened in Binh Duong province on Saturday night, attended by Truong Thi Mai, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization, former President Nguyen Minh Triet, and former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

In his opening address, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien praised southern provinces, composers, artisans, artists, and Overseas Vietnamese for their preservation and development of southern amateur singing.
The festival entitled “Amateur singing-treasure of the southern land” will run until next Wednesday. Emeritus Artist Le Tu of Tran Huu Trang Theatre in Ho Chi Minh City said: “The atmosphere is great like what it was in Bac Lieu 3 years ago. This is a chance of artists to honor their predecessors. I feel happy.”
