Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong opened the session

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong opened the session, highlighting the working regulations of the Party’s agencies: “The Politburo, the Secretariat and the Commission for Inspection need to adopt detailed, cohesive and practical regulations to uphold democracy. These efforts should strengthen Party’s discipline, maintain the collective leadership and uphold personal responsibility, particularly among the leaders. It is necessary to improve capacity and efficiency in the Party’s leadership and promote the autonomy, creativity and responsibility of other organizations in the political system. It’s also important to reform the working methods of the Party’s leading agencies”.

Mr. Trong described personnel recommendations for State agencies for the 2016-2021 period as vital. He said the Politburo has asked the Party Central Committee not to re-vote the posts of President, Prime Minister, National Assembly Chairperson and 34 other leaders of State agencies, introduced or approved by the 12th Party Central Committee in its second plenum in March. The remaining 13 posts, that have not yet been introduced to the 12th Party Central Committee’s second session, will go through a voting procedure. Then, the approved posts will be submitted to the first session of the 14th National Assembly for consideration, election or approval. The Party Central Committee’s 3rd session will run until July 8.
