5th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival opens in Dak Lak

(VOVworld) – The 5th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival opened Tuesday in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak to promote local and national coffee products. The biennial event lures investment in the coffee industry with the aim of improving productivity, product quality, and export value. Such improvements will lead to the sustainable growth of Vietnamese and Buon Ma Thuot city coffee brands and help develop Buon Ma Thuot city into a socio-economic center of the Central Highlands.

Public Security Minister Tran Dai Quang, who is also Head of the Steering Committee for the Central Highlands, suggested ways to develop the coffee sector:“Central Highlands provinces should work closely with central agencies, especially the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in planning coffee growing areas, improving seedling quality, and applying advanced technology in coffee cultivation and processing. It’s important for Vietnam to learn from foreign coffee growers techniques and ways to expand markets and attract more tourists.”

The 4-day festival will feature a coffee fair, an exhibition of Buon Ma Thuot coffee, a conference on sustainable coffee development, and a wooden statue carving contest.
