A Vietnamese citizen receives UN’s Asia Environmental Enforcement Award (AEEA) - ảnh 1

(VOVworld)- Do Thanh Quang, Manager at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch, Ho Chi Minh City, has become the fist Vietnamese recipient of the Asia Environmental Enforcement Award held by the United Nations Environment program on Wednesday and Thursday at the UN Headquarters in Thailand.

Many collectives and individuals from India, China, the Philippines, Tonga, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam were awarded for their efforts in tackling the illegal trade in wildlife, chemicals and waste.

In the last two years, Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch has discovered and arrested a total of 14 people in connection the smuggling of more than 330 kg of ivory and nearly 50 kg of rhino horn, which was being trafficking to Vietnam on flights.
