AEM 48 creates foundation for ASEAN Economic Community’s growth

th ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Meeting or AEM 48 closed in Vientiane, Laos on Saturday. Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh led the Vietnamese delegation to the event.

At the meeting, ASEAN Economic Ministers discussed and approved a number of cooperation programs. they prepared for the 28
th and 29
th ASEAN Summits and related meetings in September. Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said:
“Cooperation programs at the meeting created a foundation for ASEAN countries to boost the development of the ASEAN Economic Community. The programs stipulates guidelines and instructions in the public and private sectors and introduces activities of the ASEAN Economic Community”.
At this meeting, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar agreed on an Action Program for 2017-2018 period. Vietnam supports Laos in creating a consensus concerning internal integration and cooperation with partners to strengthen ASEAN’s central role. Vietnam promoted initiatives on cooperation between Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, Sub-Mekong region countries and Japan.
