(VOVworld) - An Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) dialogue with businesses took place in Hanoi on Thursday under the theme “Creating New Dynamism for Growth and Integration.”

The dialogue, an initiative of Vietnam as the host of APEC’s activities in 2017, drew 400 delegates from international organisations, and businesses from APEC countries.

Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Chairman of the 2017 APEC Senior Officials’ Meetings, said at the opening ceremony that Vietnam wants to turn APEC into a forum for the sake of the people and businesses.  

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung focused on Hanoi’s reform and integration efforts and reiterated its commitments to revamping the local business climate to make it a hub for business in Asia-Pacific.

Mr. Chung said: “As the global economy is facing numerous difficulties, cooperation among central and local administrations and enterprises is the key to ensuring efficiency of policy making for the interests of people and the business community. We hope that the dialogue will put forth useful proposals and break-through commitments to policy-making towards securing an open, favorable, and transparent investment and business environment.”

Participating entrepreneurs applauded APEC’s efforts to promote trade and investment liberalization and build an open and transparent business environment.
