(VOVworld) – Ho Chi Minh city’s Union of Friendship Association on Friday marked the 46^th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), on August 8, 1967.
Attending the meeting were representatives of the city’s administration and ASEAN consul generals, and students from local universities.
Phan Thi Hong Xuan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam-ASEAN Friendship Association, said that since its establishment, ASEAN has been an important and indispensable factor in ensuring peace, stability, and development in Southeast Asia. With its key role, unity, and flexible conduct, ASEAN will firmly overcome challenges to successfully build a community by 2015.
