(VOVworld) - The ASEAN appreciates the importance of the UN‘s support to development activities and believes that strengthening development is instrumental to reinforcing UN pillars.
This was stated by Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, on behalf of ASEAN at a discussion on operational activities for development within the 69th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday. She urged the UN to work closely with ASEAN to honor the Joint Declaration on Comprehensive Partnership between the two organizations.

Nga said ASEAN shares the concern with many countries about degrading resources for development and called on developed countries to continue their assistance for development plans, especially capacity building, to help countries of different development levels address challenges. She urged UN members to promote South-South cooperation and triangular cooperation.
On Tuesday, Nga delivered a speech at a UN discussion on agriculture development, food security, and nutrition. She shared Vietnam’s experience in food security and agricultural development, highlighting Vietnam’s strong political commitment to reducing poverty, improving people’s living condition, and facilitating production.
