(VOVworld) - The African Union has been urged to take bold measures to get out of donor dependency syndrome for sustainable peace and security in their respective areas and the region at large.

The overview of 5th Annual High Level Retreat on Promotion of Peace, Security and Stability in Africa

The call was made on Saturday in Arusha by some envoys and mediators who took part in the just concluded 5th Annual High Level Retreat on Promotion of Peace, Security and Stability in Africa.
The envoys agreed that AU should come up with better strategy that would make it remain free from the so-called "aids" from anywhere in the world.
Ambassador Kongit Sinegiogis, the permanent representative of Ethiopia to the AU and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa said that the current level of donor dependence is unacceptable for any self-respecting entity.
