Activities to mark Day for the Disabled held across Vietnam

(VOVworld) – 24 disabled people were honored for their tireless efforts to integrate into the community and better their lives at a get-together held Friday by the Can Tho municipal Association for Disabled Deople. One of them, On Thi Hong Nhan, said: "I’m very moved to receive this honor. I’m more confident in social activities today as people no longer discriminate disabled people."
On this occasion, the association presented gifts to children of the disabled members of the association.

In another development, businesses in Quang Binh province took the opportunity to present gifts and 6000 USD to disabled people in the province. Pham Xuan Binh, Director of the Quang Binh provincial Department of Labors, Invalids, and Social Affairs, said: "The province has successfully launched movements to take care of the disabled people. We have closely cooperated with the provincial Association for Disabled People to organize vocational training courses, support them to get access to social welfare policies, to help stabilize both their physical and spiritual lives."

There are currently around 6.7 million people with disabilities in Vietnam.
