BIDV urged to be in ASEAN’s top 25 banks

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) has firmly progressed and contributed sizably to national construction and defense.

At a ceremony to mark BIDV’s 60th founding anniversary on Saturday, Mr. Phuc said the bank’s profile has been acknowledged by international organizations. BIDV was the best bank to implement the World Bank’s agricultural financing project.
“BIDV should be Vietnam’s biggest commercial bank. But you should take a long-term and ambitious vision to expand internationally. BIDV should map out strategies and specific targets to obtain this goal, firstly to be in the list of top 25 ASEAN commercial banks,” Prime Minister Phuc said.

Prime Minister Phuc conferred BIDV the Labor Order, 1st Class. The Lao and Cambodian governments also gave BIDV noble awards for its contribution to economic cooperation.
