(VOVworld) – The Colombian and FARC rebels resumed peace talks Thursday in Havana, in a new effort to make progress after months of stagnation at the negotiating table.

For this new round of talks, both sides have pledged to de-escalate the conflict while negotiations are underway, and create change methodology of the negotiations.

To speed things up, negotiators will split up into working groups assigned to address different issues.

Joaquin Gomez, a senior FARC leader, said that in this phase, they will use a new methodology that aims to do technical, integrated and simultaneous work in addressing issues in an effort to reach conclusions quickly.

Any results achieved will be evaluated this November.
