Conference on ASEAN-China People-to-People Friendship Organisations

(VOVworld) - The 7th Conference on ASEAN-China People-to-People Friendship Organisations concluded in Hanoi on Friday after two working days. Themed "Solidarity, Friendship, Cooperation and Development", nearly 150 delegates attended the meeting where Timor Leste sent its observer to. Vu Xuan Hong, President of the Vietnam’s Union of Friendship Organizations, said ‘Over the past 45 years of establishment and development, ASEAN has become a comprehensive organization of regional cooperation, and a dynamic political and economic entity with improved role and position in the Southeast Asian and Asia – Pacific regions. ASEAN is building its Community by 2015, which will mark the 10th anniversary of the conference on ASEAN – China People-to-people Friendship Organizations. On this occasion, we would like to call for parties involved to hold more practical multilateral activities to further boost the relations between peoples of ASEAN and China’.
Gu Xiulian, President of the China-ASEAN Association and head of the Chinese delegation to the conference, underscored the cooperation mechanism, which helps lift the friendship and cooperation between China and ASEAN to a new level. The head delegates signed a 2012-2013 cooperation programme among the ASEAN-China people’s friendship organizations and handed over the conference’s flag to the Philippines-China friendship organization, which will host next year’s meeting.
