(VOVworld) – Construction of a road section connecting Can Tho and Kien Giang province began on Sunday.

In an address, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said this section is part of the HCM trans-national highway, which together with national highway 1, will contribute to national defense and security and local socio-economic development. He said: “Once completed, this 51km section will contribute significantly to national defense, security, and socio-economic development in Kien Giang. It will shorten the travel time between Rach Gia and HCM city and expand the transportation network in the Mekong river delta.”
