Cuba’s Foreign Ministry statement says the two sides exchanged views on using the Internet for "economic and social development."

The Ministry said Friday that Cuban officials also reported the U.S. Embargo's negative impact on Cuba’s communications.

It said U.S. telecom executives accompanied the delegation to Cuba.

Last November, Cuba's government-run telecommunications company ETECSA and US firm Sprint signed an agreement to provide direct roaming services for Cuban customers.

Earlier last March, US IDT Corporation opened a service to provide direct international long distance telephony, considering it the first important step for liberalization of communications between the two nations.
