(VOVworld) - The US and Cuba have agreed on security cooperation in trade and tourism.

The Cuban newspaper Granma reported Thursday that during talks on Wednesday in Havana, visiting US Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas and Cuban Interior Minister Major General Carlos Fernandez Gondin agreed to promote closer security cooperation.

Mayorkas, the highest ranking Cuban-American in US President Barack Obama’s administration, who was appointed in December 2013, was accompanied by US Commissioner for Customs and Border Enforcement Gil Kerlikowske.
