Cuba will continue its economic reforms

(VOVworld) – Cuban President Raul Castro on Saturday reiterated that Cuba's reform program will remain cautious and gradual, despite recent disappointing growth data that show the country's struggling economy is slowing. The President said in order to be successful, the reform process must be conducted with the appropriate gradualness and under control of the party and the government. Meanwhile, Vice President Marino Murillo said the government is implementing a project to eliminate Cuba's unique dual-currency system. But he warned that monetary unification itself won't increase their purchasing power, so Cuba must produce more to meet this demand.
