Deputy PM launches Traffic Safety Year 2017

(VOVworld) - At a ceremony in Hanoi on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh joined in launching Traffic Safety Year 2017, which will focus on building a traffic culture among young people.

This year’s campaign aims to raise public awareness of safe traffic culture, particularly among young people, reduce road and railway accidents 5-10 percent and reduce serious accidents on trains, buses and the inland waterway 5 percent. Mr. Binh asked the Hanoi municipal authorities to speed up key infrastructure projects like elevated railways; use advanced technology to control traffic, and encourage people to use public transportation. To ensure safe travel during the upcoming Lunar New Year festival, the Deputy Prime Minister asked ministries, agencies, and local authorities to follow the Prime Minister’s directive on traffic safety.
