The meetings were held on the sidelines of the Arab League (AL) Summit in Amman, Jordan. Shoukry’s talks with US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for international negotiation, Jason Greenblatt, focused on the developments of the Palestinian issue and reviewed the recent visit of Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas to Cairo. Shoukry stressed that Egyptian proposal for the Palestinian issue was based on the Arab peace initiative, and would contribute to a peace solution between Palestine and Arab nations.

In his meeting with the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, Shoukry reaffirmed Cairo’s position on the Syrian crisis, which prioritized preserving Syria’s territorial unity and ending the suffering of the Syrian people.
