Fatherland Front President visits Ly Son island

(VOVworld) – President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan visited water melon and garlic farms in Ly Son island, Quang Ngai province on Saturday. He encouraged the farmers to endure the harsh weather conditions to grow Ly Son garlic specialty.

He also persuaded them to be confident in the Party and State policies to support offshore fishing including the credit package worth 750 million USD for upgrading fishing ships. Mr. Nhan said: “The state will offer loans to build ships, buy insurance for the fishermen and their ships, and train them to use the new equipment. We transfer the money contributed by people nationwide to you to support marine police, fishery resources surveillance forces, and fishermen.”

The Fatherland Front gave 2,000 national flags to the fishermen to place on their ships and 200 gifts to families in Ly Son island. 5 families were given 14,000 USD each to build new ships. The Front also presented 30,000 USD each to the families of 5 border soldiers.
