This tool, based on blood, serum, or urine samples, can be used in the field without any additional equipment. Previous Ebola tests take at least 2 hours for the results and are only able to be conducted in labs. Russia has developed a vaccine which could prevent Ebola and other viruses. Veronika Skvortsova, the Russian Health Minister, said that if their experiments worked, the vaccine could be sent immediately to Africa. Canada sent its first 800 doses of Ebola vaccine “VSV-ZEBOV” to the World Health Organisation in Switzerland for testing. The vaccine’s experiments on humans are expected to be held by the beginning of November.
