Foreign media interested in President Obama’s Vietnam visit

(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama’s historic visit to Vietnam has drawn the attention of the regional and global media. The US’s removal of a ban on the sales of lethal weapons to Vietnam was the main headline in many of Singapore’s major newspapers. The Strait Times quoted statements by President Obama and Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang, saying that the visit was intended to strengthen bilateral relations including national defense.

Many German newspapers have also covered the visit. The South Germany newspaper said the Vietnamese President considered the US’s removal of its arms embargo on Vietnam evidence of the complete normalization of relations between the two countries. The Commerce said President Obama wanted to deliver a message of a new beginning in bilateral ties. It quoted him as praising Vietnam as an important country in one of the most important regions in the world. The ARD and ZDF television channels also reported on Mr. Obama’s historic visit.
