German Intelligence Agency spies on European targets

(VOVworld) – The German Intelligence Agency (BND) has worked with the US National Security Agency (NSA) to spy on European targets. The Spiegel Online reported Thursday that over the past decade, the NSA has sent the BND so-called "selectors", including internet IP addresses, mobile phone numbers, and other identifying information, which the BND has monitored on its system. Some of the selectors are not covered in the counter-terrorism cooperation agreement that the two agencies signed in 2002.

The case was reported to lawmakers investigating NSA activities in the Lower House of the German Parliament. On Thursday Chancellery Minister Peter Altmaier met with members of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee and the NSA Committee to discuss this information.
