Gia Lai province urged to tap its agro-forestry potential

(VOVworld) - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has requested the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai to rely on its strengths to develop hi-tech agriculture and forestry in combination with processing industry.

At a meeting with provincial leaders on Thursday, the Party leader pointed out to several advantages of the province, including a total area of over 15,500sq.m – the second largest locality of Vietnam, climate and basalt soil which are favorable for coffee, rubber and pepper plants. He asked Gia Lai to focus on new-style rural building, forest and eco-environment protection, and resident resettlement. The Party leader stressed the need to focus on developing industry, tourism, education and human resources training, while maintaining cultural identities and changing out-of-date practices.
