NA’s Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu said the National Assembly is the central agency for ensuring children’s rights, making laws, monitoring law enforcement, and gathering public opinion on policy implementation.

Mr. Luu said: “The Vietnamese National Assembly has issued the Law on child protection, care, and education and is committed to continuing to integrate child rights and other issues in the law-building process and monitoring the implementation of child protection policies. Last year the National Assembly adopted the Law on the organization of the People’s Court which specifies the need to establish a special legal institution for adolescents. Family and adolescent courts will be open at the provincial and district levels.”

Parliamentarians at the conference shared the countries’ successful measures to improve policies on child nutrition and growth, especially infant and young child nutrition and breastfeeding practices.
