The project, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, set up 1,900 public internet access points in 40 Vietnamese provinces and cities.

In Vinh Long, the project set up 40 access points in August, 2013. 265 desktop computers and 40 printers were also installed.

The project has helped poor people and people living in extremely disadvantaged areas of Vinh Long province to access the Internet and enjoy some of the socio-economic benefits brought by the Internet access.

Deputy Director of the provincial Information and Communication Department Le The Vinh said Vinh Long has outlined a plan to continue the project from now until 2020.
