At an annual Jerusalem Day ceremony, marking 49 years since the capture of the city’s eastern part in the 6-day war in 1967, Prime Minister Netanyahu said Jerusalem wants to resume peace talks through negotiations with regional countries and that peace can be reached after its neighbors recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

Earlier, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Palestine will not join the reconciliation effort unless Israel withdrew to the June 1967 lines and recognized East Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state.
