(VOVworld) – Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem hailed Japanese businesses’ contributions to the development of Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh city in particular.

In Wednesday’s reception for a delegation from the Japan Business Federation, Liem asked Japan to hasten the construction of metro railway system No. 1 to make sure that it will be finished by 2019. He said the city is prioritizing supportive industry, hi-tech agriculture, and advanced technology. He said Japan is now the sixth biggest investor in Ho Chi Minh city with more than 900 projects worth 2.7 billion USD, focusing on processing and manufacturing technology. He said the city would provide all possible support for foreign investors, especially those from Japan.
