Earlier the Japanese news24.sp website posted a deadline with an IS message warning that the "countdown has begun" for the group to kill a pair of Japanese hostages. But the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Japanese TV that those messages were not true. Before the deadline IS announced for the fate of Japanese hostages, the Japanese National Security Council had an urgent meeting with the Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Foreign Minister Kishida and the Minister of Defense. This was the Council’s first meeting since the two hostages were abducted by IS.
