(VOVworld) – On Friday the United States Embassy in Hanoi organized a seminar entitled “Promoting prosperity: 20 years of Vietnam-US cooperation and development” as part of activities during US Secretary of State John Kerry’s ongoing visit to Vietnam. Mr. Kerry reviewed major changes in bilateral cooperation and development since the two countries normalized diplomatic ties in 1995, from enemies to comprehensive partners. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh hailed the initiative to organize the seminar as the two countries marked the 20th anniversary of normalization of diplomatic ties and on Mr. Kerry’s visit to Vietnam. He expressed his belief in bright prospects for Vietnam-US ties to reach a higher level.

Leaders from Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives of civil organizations and businesses, heard the US Agency for International Development report on achievements made in bilateral cooperation and development over the past 20 years.
