(VOVworld) - Trade relations between Kuwait and Viet Nam have made satisfying progress, the Consulate of Kuwait in HCM City said at a Thursday reception to mark the 54^th anniversary of Kuwait’s Independence Day and its 24^th Liberation Day on Friday. Trade between the two countries reached 691 million USD in 2014. Viet Nam's exports to Kuwait grew twice as much in 2014 as the previous year, according to the Viet Nam Customs Bureau. Omar Al-Qenaei, Consul General of Kuwait in HCM City, invited Vietnamese companies to invest in a mega-development plan approved by the Government of Kuwait. The plan comprises 1,100 projects worth a total of $107.8 billion. These include the creation of Silk City, a commercial hub and free trade zone with a capacity of 700,000 residents. Kuwait and Viet Nam established diplomatic relations in 1976. Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem said HCM City is always ready to support Kuwaiti investors.
