NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung visits Boston, Massachusetts

(VOVworld) - Top legislators of Vietnam and the US discussed measures to enhance collaboration between Massachusetts State and Vietnamese localities, particularly in economy, finance, education and training, during meetings in Massachusetts on Friday.

At a meeting with Massachusetts Senate President of Stanley Rosenberg, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said his visit is meant to push the two countries’ relations forward, especially their parliamentary ties. He asked Mr. Rosenberg to continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese, especially students, to live in Massachusetts, support the establishment of a Fulbright school in Vietnam, and boost education and scientific research cooperation between the two countries.

Mr. Rosenberg noted that with strengths in finance, tourism, education, and training, Massachusetts is ready to collaborate with Vietnam in those and said effective cooperation in economy, trade, and investment will grow out of their mutual understanding and shared goal of strengthening ties.

During a meeting with President of the Massachusetts House of Representatives Robert Delco, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung briefed his host on the outcomes of the 4th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in New York. The two leaders exchanged ideas for boosting cooperation between Vietnam and the US, specifically in education, trade, and investment. They agreed to increase delegation exchanges, actively promote trade and share legislative experience.

Meeting with leaders, experts, and researchers at Harvard University the same day, Chairman Hung said Vietnam and the US are seeing enormous new cooperation opportunities that need to be exploited in education and scientific research. He said he hopes Harvard University will increase scholarships for Vietnamese students and continue sharing its experience in teaching and training with Vietnamese universities. Experts from Harvard’s Vietnam Program said they are willing to share their know-how and assist Vietnam in building economic management and development policies.

During his visit, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung visited Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, whose 1,000 foreign students include a number from Vietnam.
