NA Chairman: Vietnam treasures cooperation with the UK

Vietnam attaches great importance to improving cooperation with EU countries, including the United Kingdom. National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung made the remark during his meeting with British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Cleeg in London on Wednesday as part of his official visit to the UK. Mr. Hung said this is his first visit to the UK as Vietnam’s National Assembly chairman with the aim to consolidating and enhancing the two countries’ strategic bilateral ties established in 2010. He added that Vietnam always creates favorable conditions for businesses from both countries further their cooperation in a long-term and sustainable manner. He also expressed his wish that the UK government and parliament continue to support Vietnam in strengthening cooperation with EU and negotiating the Free Trade Agreement with the EU.

Mr. Hung affirmed that Vietnam will improve exchanges and cooperation with the UK in dealing with regional and international issues of mutual concern.

For his part, UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Cleeg asserted British cooperative policies with Vietnam with its commitment to provide Vietnam with an ODA worth 70 million pounds until 2016.
