National Security Service of Armenia issues ultimatum to extremists

(VOVworld) – The National Security Service of Armenia has made a new statement related to the ongoing situation after the seizure of a building belonging to the Police Patrol Service Regiment. The NSS demanded the members of the armed group that they immediately neutralize all obstacles to provide medical care to the injured, release all the hostages, put down their arms and surrender to the authorities.

The NSS warned the armed group that in case these demands are not observed, weapons will be used against them as a last extreme measure.

On July 27 the extremist group took 4 medical workers as hostages who were sent to the scene to take care of injured people. But a representative of the opposition group denied the accusation and explained that they kept the medical workers as they needed medical care.

Despite a ban on demonstrations near the Police Patrol Service Regiment building, about 1,500 people gathered to demand President Serzh Sarkisian resign, the government dissolve, and then a new cabinet be formed.
