(VOVworld) - The 8th national congress of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association opened in Hanoi on Monday.

More than 8,000 art works have been introduced to the public in 45 exhibitions inside and outside the country over the past 5 years.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam addressed the opening ceremony: “the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, and relevant agencies should work closely with each other to create the best conditions for the Vietnam Fine Arts Association to make the best performance, gather many artists, and turn out high value works. Van Gogh used to say that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people and he hoped artists will use their hearts and love to report the abundant reality in their works so that hundreds of years later, when looking at their works, viewers will know how life was at that moment.

During the 3-day event, participants will discuss development orientations for the next term focusing on the expansion of cooperation with regional countries.
